WEST HAM are plotting a summer swoop for Danny Drinkwater, according to reports.
The England midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge in August for £35million from Leicester City.
But the move to West London has not gone according to plan, the 28-year-old has started just 12 games in all competitions and has lost his place in the Three Lions set up.
He formed one of the most effective midfield partnerships in recent years with N’Golo Kante at the King Power, helping the Foxes to their stunning Premier League title win two years ago.
But the pair have only started together six times in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side this season.
Telegraph Sport say the Hammers have been alerted to his frustration due to lack of game time, with Chelsea looking to reshape their squad in the summer.
Drinkwater will not be short of offers if he decides to leave Stamford Bridge as David Moyes is keen on landing a top quality central midfield operator.
His absence during the first season of his five-year deal has puzzled some Blues fans as another new boy Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Chelsea will want to recoup the £35m they shelled out for the Manchester United academy product last year.
Drinkwater is expected to make a firm decision on his future when knows who will be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season, with Conte expected to leave.
Meanwhile Chelsea have joined the race to sign Manchester United’s wantaway forward Anthony Martial.
Juventus and Lyon are also keen on the attacker who has had enough of his peripheral role at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
