Arsene Wenger set to snub PSG general manager job this summer for admirable reason

Arsenal manager Wenger targeted for senior role by French giants but desire to keep on working on the training ground is likely to see him reject approach

ARSENE WENGER is ready to snub a lucrative job offer from Paris Saint-Germain – because he wants to stay working as a full-time manager.

Wenger is leaving his job as Arsenal manager at the end of the season but he does not want his departure to spell the end of his career in the dug-out.

PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been a long-term friend of Wenger’s and twice failed to prise him to Paris to become the club’s manager in the past.

And Al-Khelaiofi wants to find him a position in his club now he has finally become available on the job market.

PSG are planning a summer of changes at the top having fallen short again in their attempts to win the Champions League.

Manager Unai Emery will be leaving the club at the end of the season, with Thomas Tuchel the man in line to replace him in charge of the expensively-assembled side.

The idea was that Wenger would come in to work in a role to oversee all a football administration matters and to work closely with Tuchel as a conduit to the board.

But such a position is unlikely to satisfy the 68-year-old, who has no intention of stepping away from day-to-day life on the training ground.

The Frenchman believes he still has plenty to offer and is now open to offers from clubs around the world.

There has already been interest registered over making a lucrative move out to work in China, although more clubs are expected to make contact across the coming weeks.

PSG will not want to offer Wenger a more hands-on role with ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel looking to come in and stamp his own mark on things.

That is likely to mean Al-Khelaifi will miss out on tempting Wenger to PSG for the third time.

Arsenal themselves are now scouring the list of potential candidates to succeed Wenger at the Emirates, with Luis Enrique the leading contender.

Enrique is understood to be wanting guarantees he can spend as much as £200million on improving the squad at the Gunners before agreeing to take charge.
