Former Barcelona boss Enrique plans to rip through the squad with major changes should he come to a deal with Arsenal and take over.

Only the forward line will be left untouched with £60m record-signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette safe in their jobs.

The goalkeeping, defence and midfield will be in for a major shake up with Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan already identified as a leading target to come in.

That is already a diversion from Wenger’s style of management as the Belgian is 29 years old and Arsenal’s outgoing boss prefers younger players.

Former Barcelona director of football Raul Sanllehi is set to become the main force in spending Arsenal’s money but he has previously worked with Enrique.

Arsenal are not natural big spenders in the transfer market but with lots of positions up for grabs several big name players would be heading out to offset the acquisition of new talent – but everyone will get their chance to stay at the club.

But he also wants to be paid the same £9m a year salary which long-serving Wenger enjoys after seven new contracts during his two career at Arsenal which spans three decades.
