Alex Iwobi’s terrible performance sends Arsenal fans into meltdown on Arsene Wenger’s special day

Gooners couldn't help questioning how Wenger had let the Nigerian anywhere near the Arsenal first team

You would think the Arsenal players would at least look interested after this week.

Well that was certainly not the case for Alex Iwobi who put in one of the most inept displays against West Ham at the Emirates today.

The young Nigerian made Arsenal fans question how Wenger could allow him anywhere near the first team after a string of terrible dribbling, bad passing and weak finishing.

His inclusion in the team was made particularly stark just after half time when he burst down the wing into the box in a perfect position before ballooning a cross over everyone and into empty space.

But just when everyone was about to give up this one, goal-scoring defender extraordinaire Nacho Monreal stepped up with a volley from a corner to give the Gunners the lead.

If there is one man who hasn’t downed tools under Wenger it is Monreal.

However, Arsenal fans on Twitter were desperate for Wenger to heed their calls and finally substitute Iwobi after his abject performance.

In true Wenger style he didn’t listen to any of the fans and persisted with his own methods until the 70th minute…
