Alejandro Gomez will be laughing until the end of the season after nearly pulling off the prank of all pranks against Inter

Alejandro Gomez you cheeky boy.

They always said Miranda had eyes in the back of his head

Let’s give you a little bit of background before we get into the juicy mischievous details.

Inter travelled to Bergamo knowing a win would put them clear in third place, a point ahead of Roma and Lazio, as three teams vie for two spots in Europe’s top comps.

During the game Inter’s centre back Miranda, who has been a pretty consistent rock at the back all season, is at his commanding best and frustrates the home sides’ front two of Musa Barrow and Gomez.

With Gomez finding out that Miranda is actually a tricky operator and there aren’t many ways to get round him he took an option which takes real cajones.

According to Italiant football journalist Tancredi Palmeri on the 75th minute the devilish Argentinian (obviously) signalled to Inter coach Luciano Spalletti that Miranda had picked up an injury and would need to come off.

With several crunch games coming in the run in Spalletti couldn’t risk his best defender and immediately sent out a replacement to warm up.

It took several minutes for Spalletti to realise that Miranda was completely fine and it was a wicked prank by Gomez to try to get rid of the Brazilian centre back.

Take a bow, Gomez you came within seconds of pulling off one of the pranks of the season.

We know Italy has a history of brinkmanship (saying no names), and Argentine players have a distinct will to win, just ask David Beckham, but this was a result of pure brazenness from Gomez.

There would have been scenes had Miranda been replaced and then Inter conceded late on.

Although Gomez was trying his best mind manipulation, it looks like Derren Brown is safe for a while.
