We still can’t quite believe Roma managed to overturn their first-leg deficit in yesterday’s Champions League clash against Barcelona.
The Serie A side beat the Catalans 3-0 in Rome to go through to the semi-finals of the competition and none of us really saw it coming.
But will we really see a comeback of similar proportions happen in Juventus’ game against Real Madrid tonight?
We really didn’t think so, with Madrid leading the tie 3-0 from the first-leg and going into tonight’s game at the Bernabeu full of confidence.
What’s more, Juve are missing young forward Paulo Dybala – who was sent off in Turin a week ago – while star striker Gonzalo Higuain is suffering a bit of a goal-drought at the moment.
But against all odds, Juve have come out with all guns a-blazing in this one, with Mario Mandzukic silencing the Madrid fans early on with a goal inside two minutes.
It was all thanks to Douglas Costa, who dashed down the right flank before finding Sami Khedira, who then floated a lovely cross towards the back post, into the expectant path of Mandzukic who jumped up and guided the ball into the net with a powerful header.
Take a look.
Game on, folks.
And if Juve do this, then they’ve certainly one-upped their great rivals Roma in terms of great European comebacks.
