This season’s Champions League hasn’t been all about Liverpool, has it?
Because with 15 goals in the competition and a chance to reach another final on the horizon, Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying his best season yet in Europe.
The Portuguese superstar has more-or-less carried Real Madrid into the last four, scoring in every round of their campaign to help set-up a blockbuster semi-final clash with Bayern Munich.
And they’ll be desperate to reach the final in a hope to salvage their rather poor season.
They’ve trailed table-topping Barcelona in La Liga all year, with their league ambitions in tatters by December following their 3-0 defeat in El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
But despite their domestic struggles, they still managed to get out of the group stage of the Champions League – going through as runners-up behind Spurs.
And of course, Ronaldo has been their main man, netting nine goals in the group stage – two both home and away against APOEL, one apiece in both games against Spurs and three against Dortmund, including a brace in their 3-1 win in Germany.
And he then netted in both legs of their knockout round success over Paris Saint-Germain and was the hero against Juventus as well.
We can’t decide which goal was more dramatic: the over-head volley or the late-as-they-come penalty?
And with Roma unexpectedly knocking out Barca in the quarter-finals, Madrid now stand as the resounding favourites to lift the trophy again this season.
You certainly wouldn’t bet against them, but will Ronaldo continue his brilliant scoring streak in the Champions League?
With Sun Bets, you can get 11/10 odds on him to score at any time in Wednesday’s semi-final first-leg clash.
But will he become the first player to score in every round?
If anyone can do it, Ronaldo can.
