JOSE MOURINHO has convinced Gareth Bale to choose Manchester United should he leave Real Madrid in the summer, according to reports.
It has recently been suggested the Welshman, 28, will end his trophy-laden five-year spell at the Bernabeu at the end of the current season, with the club slapping a price tag of £88million on him.
And Sport are reporting he has been convinced to join the Red Devils by Mourinho.
The report claims the United boss believed he had got his man last before the then Europa League winners met Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup.
However, Bale decided to stay for at least one more season.
The former Tottenham man’s future had appeared uncertain at the time, after he had been left out of the starting line-up for the Champions League final meeting with Juventus.
And, in the 2018-19, he continued to struggle with game time and it is understood he does not see a long-term future under Zinedine Zidane.
United have made it clear they want to bring in at least one big-name this summer as they continue their quest to win a first Premier League title of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 and has grown into arguably the greatest British export of all-time.
In nearly five years, he has won three Champions League titles — and could still add a fourth — a La Liga, a Copa del Rey, two Uefa Super Cups, three Fifa Club World Cups and one Supercopa de Espana.
