Ryan Giggs is trying to convince star man Gareth Bale to ditch his sport cars to drive a Range Rover.
The Wales gaffer was strongly advised as a player to stick with one motor to prolong his career.
And now the 44-year-old wants Bale to take a leaf out of his book in order to protect his hamstrings.
It revelation comes after the Manchester United legend banned his players from the golf course while on international duty.
Giggs, who played until the age of 40, spoke publicly of the benefits of using just one car – with the same seat and model rather than use any of the other motors in his expensive collection – to help steer clear of injuries.
The Welshman cited the impact on his hamstrings when he was using the clutch at the midpoint of his glittering career at Manchester United.
In 2003 Giggs said: “My love of cars is well known and I used to switch from one model to another every few months.
“Experts told me that the different stiff clutch pedals on my cars might have been putting extra stress on my left leg and aggravating my hamstring.
“I decided to stick with the same car and it seems to have done the trick because I’ve been fit for virtually the whole of this season so far.”
Bale has endured an injury-stricken time since his £85million world record move to the Bernabeu in 2013.
And Giggs wants Bale and the rest of his team-mates at full fitness so he banned the side from playing golf in China.
Bale and his close pals had an 18-hole round planned for last Saturday afternoon in Nanning.
Giggs, in his first camp as manager, instructed Bale to avoid any demanding physical activity in his spare time, particularly anything that placed a strain on his back such as swinging a golf club.
It is understood Bale accepted Giggs’ decision to ban the golf with table tennis, the card game Uno and a big screen alternatives at the team’s five-star hotel in the southern Chinese city.
