Nights like this do not come round very often.
Not since Gary Lineker pulled on the Blaugrana shirt back in 1986 has this happened.
An Englishman is set make his debut for Barcelona tonight.
January signing Marcus Mcguane, the 19-year-old midfielder, is set to make his Barcelona bow against Espanyol in the Catalan Super Cup final tonight.
McGuane made one senior appearance for the Gunners in the Europa League earlier this season but after impressing with Barca B he is expected to move up to the first team tonight.
If he gets on the former Arsenal youngster will be the first Englishman to play for Barca since Lineker back in the 80s.
Lineker has even tweeted a message of support for the young man ahead of the game.
Ernesto Valverde has called up 12 players from Barcelona’s B team for the match tonight.
Although it is not deemed an official fixture it is still impressive that McGuane has managed to shine so far and get the nod.
“In a short time he has already earned my confidence, and I hope he can become an important player for us,” Gerard Lopez, Barca B manager told ESPN FC.
“I can use him in a lot of positions and at his age, he still has a lot of room for improvement.”
The Super Cup final is played every two years between Barcelona and Espanyol as the pair face off for the pride of Catalunya.
And it won’t all be youth products with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Yerry Mina both expected to play as well as andre Gomes.
Let’s hope it’s the first of many for our man McGuane.
