Jose Mourinho’s decision to start with Ander Herrera in midfield over Paul Pogba in tonight’s Champions League clash at Sevilla went well, didn’t it?
Prior to kick-off, all of the talk was on the Special One’s decision to leave the Frenchman on the bench, following their supposed ‘falling out’ last week.
So, United’s midfield trio consisted of Herrera, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic instead.
Of course, Twitter went a bit mad about it.
But after all of that fuss, guess who made an appearance a mere 17 minutes later?
That’s right, with United trying to string-together some attacking moves to unlock their Spanish opponents, Antonio Valencia slipped a simple pass down the right side for Herrera, who attempted a quick return pass with a clever backheel.
Unfortunately for him, the little trick resulted in a pulled a muscle, and that was his lot in this one.
With Pogba the only obvious choice in midfield, he duly came on in his place.
Well, I guess that’s that drama all over.
What’s more, Pogba was involved almost instantly, charging down the right side and nearly breaking clear when play resumed.
He’s gonna go and score, isn’t he?
