CHELSEA are reportedly preparing to use Michy Batshuayi as bait in their attempt to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues refused to sell the Belgian striker last month, instead only allowing him to depart on loan to the German side.
He has flourished since his arrival on deadline day, scoring five goals in his first three matches, to only strengthen the Bundesliga club’s desire to secure him long-term.
And the Daily Mail claim that Batshuayi could hand Chelsea a boost in their pursuit of his current team-mate Pulisic.
The USA teenager is one of the brightest young talents in world football and has already caught the attention of several Premier League outfits.
Manchester United and Liverpool have both enquired about the 19-year-old in the past.
Dortmund are determined to hold onto the starlet.
And he is under contract with them until 2020.
However, he has revealed previously his desire to test himself in the English top-flight.
And that has alerted Chelsea, who have been tracking him for over a year and would ideally want to wrap-up a deal before the World Cup.
Stamford Bridge chiefs are aware that Dortmund will command a hefty fee for Pulisic, but they believe they have a big bargaining tool in Batshuayi.
The American is the youngest-ever player to play for the US national side and has won 20 caps already.
And he became the youngest foreigner to score in the Bundesliga when he bagged for Dortmund aged just 17.
