Liverpool are reportedly closing in on Roma keeper Alisson after claims of talks with his agent last week.
But the Reds will have to smash the record fee for a goalkeeper to land the Brazilian international, 25.
ESPN claims the Reds have entered negotiations and must now agree a fee with Roma.
Alisson – who plays ahead of Manchester City star Ederson for Brazil – is highly rated in the Italian capital.
And Sky Sports is reporting that Roma will demand £62million after their coach described his charge as “the Lionel Messi of goalkeepers”.
That dwarves the current record price for a keeper – the £34.9m City forked out for Ederson.

And after shelling out £75m to sign Virgil van Dijk, the German has proved he is willing to spend big to fill key positions.
His Reds have been brilliant going forward this season and are the leading goalscorers in the Champions League after their win over Porto.

Roma director of sport Monchi admitted Mohamed Salah was flogged to Liverpool on the cheap yesterday.
And he will be keen not to make a similar mistake with Alisson after watching the Egyptian forward tear the Premier League apart.
