We want a sniff of whatever’s in Real Madrid’s physio bag.
In the ninth minute of Real Madrid’s Champions League game against PSG it looked like Marcelo was in serious trouble.
The Madrid defender came together with fellow Brazilian Dani Alves only to be left on the floor screaming in agony.
Alves ushered the PSG physios over while Marcelo could be heard screaming.
Replays then showed Marcelo looking at his arm in disgust as if he’d popped his shoulder out.
But before you knew it Marcelo was back up and running.
Not just that, he was launching throw-ins down the pitch and charging around with his usual unbridled energy.
So did he manage to run off a dislocated shoulder?
Fair play to him.
Smelling salts have clearly got a lot stronger than they used to be.
Or maybe it was the magic sponge?
Either way, it’s a relief that no one was seriously hurt, although we did have to listen to Glenn Hoddle use the word ‘swazz’ to describe one of his later crosses.
