However, since the move he has been forced to deal with numerous setbacks, and even his team-mates have tried to help him gain confidence.
Mundo Deportivo report the club are pampering him to help ease the pressure.
Dembele is currently living in a smart home, where he has every comfort, but Barcelona have taken measures to ensure he avoids eating fast food.
They have placed a personal chef at his disposal, who will prepare meals which contain a fine balance of all the nutrients he requires.
He also has a personal bodyguard, and the club’s doctors and physios make regular visits to his home.
Dembele arrived as a replacement for Neymar, but after just four matches he tore his hamstring and faced four months out.
On his return he suffered another setback and the club are now trying to ease him back in.
His team-mates sympathise with his situation, and the senior players are ensuring he is not weighed down by the pressure.
