Here’s something we can all agree on; playing football in the cold is rather unpleasant.
And that fact of life doesn’t change once you’ve made it as a professional.
Just ask Adam Lallana.
The Liverpool midfield was sat on the bench for 79 minutes in their 2-0 win over Southampton on Sunday, before coming on for a brief cameo against his former employers.
And unfortunately for the two teams and the thousands of supporters in the stands, the temperature on the south coast was around 4C (39.2F).
We’re getting chilly just thinking about it.
In fact, it was so cold that Adam Lallana’s toes turned a different colour to the rest of his feet after sitting on the bench for so long, followed by a brief run around.
Take a look.
He captioned the picture: “Anyone have any suggestions for defrosting feet?”
We’re not too sure, Adam, but we think you need the kit-man to give you some warmer socks!
Despite his cold feet, we’re sure Lallana was just glad to be back in the Liverpool squad on Sunday, after a long and frustrating period out injured.
The 29-year-old made headlines for all of the wrong reasons last week when he was sent off for violent conduct in the Reds Under-23s match with Spurs.
The England international completely lost his rag with Spurs youngster George Marsh, grabbing the 19-year-old by the neck from behind after an aerial clash between the two.
Lucky for him, he escaped a three-match ban for first-team matches, which instead applies solely to reserves games.
