Ryan Giggs tells Jose Mourinho EXACTLY where to play Paul Pogba

The Man United legend and Wales boss has outlined where Mourinho needs to deploy his star midfielder in order to get the best out of him

Jose Mourinho is making a big deal of Paul Pogba right now.

The Man United boss dropped his £90million midfielder for the win against Huddersfield on the weekend after the Frenchman argued with him about tactics against Spurs last week.

The age old question of what is Pogba’s best position is beginning to become a bit of a conundrum for the Special One.

But don’t worry, Ryan Giggs is coming to the rescue with some very helpful back seat management advice.

United’s record appearance holder knows where Pogba will fit in best in the current system and where he can impact games the most and thankfully for Mourinho he is more than happy to share a bit of his expertise.

The Wales boss told Sky Sports that if Pogba is really going to influence games and match up to the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva for creativity in driving the Red Devils to the title next season then he has to play on the left of a midfield three.

“One of the best games Pogba had was the Everton game, when he was on the left of Matic – in a similar position to the one he played at Juventus – and Ander Herrera was on the right,” said Giggs.

“I think that position where he’s on the left of a midfield three is where he’s at his best. He’s a brilliant crosser of the ball and I don’t think he’s as effective when he’s having to do more defensive work in central areas.

“I would like to see him in a 4-3-3 with Matic sitting, Herrera to the right and Pogba to the left, with a selection of the front three thriving off more creativity behind them.”

Well it’s not rocket science but Mourinho’s current deployment of the former Juventus midfielder as part of a defensive block is really not allowing him to shine.

In Italy Pogba built a reputation as a bulldozer in midfielder that could grab games by the scruff of the neck and create moments of pure magic with Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal guarding behind him.

All Premier League fans would like to see Mourinho throw off the shackles and allow Pogba the free role in midfield that utilises his talents best.

But, you know as well as I do, that’s not going to happen.

So enjoying watching Pogba play as a DM for the rest of Mourinho’s time at United.
