There’s a lot of fuss about Thomas Lemar at the moment.
Monaco managed to hold onto their prized asset in January despite strong interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, but you feel this summer the midfielder will finally leave the Ligue 1 side.
And, after his salary was revealed by L’Equipe on Tuesday, it’s easy to see why Lemar wants out.
According to the French newspaper Lemar earns just £22,000-a-week.
That means the 22-year-old is still on the very same contract from when he first signed for Monaco from Caen back in 2015.
Despite being Monaco’s most creative and effective player in the last 18 months or so, Lemar doesn’t even rank among the top ten paid players at the club.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions have reportedly offered him a bumper new deal – but the player insists he wants to leave this summer after the World Cup.
Lemar is some way off France’s top earners, with the L’Equipe leak revealing that nine of the top ten salaries in Ligue 1 belong to PSG players.
Neymar leads the way by some distance with a jaw dropping weekly wage of £677,000 – 30 times that of Lemar.
Radamel Falcao is the only non-PSG based player in the top ten, with Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe making up the rest of the top three.
