Arsenal absolutely thrashed Everton in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger’s side – with new boys Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan making their full debuts – ran out 5-1 winners over the Toffees, with Aaron Ramsey scoring a hat-trick.
And Gunners midfielder Mesut Ozil believes pop star Rihanna was the inspiration behind the result.
Posting to Instagram after the game, Ozil posed with match-day guest Rihanna and claimed she was, once again, his “lucky charm”.
The German captioned the picture “still unbeaten with Riri”, which is a reference to the last time she watched Ozil play in Germany’s 2014 World Cup Final win over Argentina.
It wasn’t just him though, with Ozil’s club and international teammate Shkodran Mustafi seemingly in agreement, writing: “Thanks for crossing your fingers, that has always turned out really well” in another reference to the World Cup triumph.
Rihanna is thought to be a huge football fan (even though she calls it ‘soccer’ on social media) and made plenty of headlines throughout the 2014 World Cup with various appearances at the tournament.
She even once had a brief relationship with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
If she’s lucky, then maybe it’s time Arsene Wenger replaced Gunnersaurus with the pop star?
