TURKISH club Harunustaspor have made history by completing the signing of a player using cryptocurrency.
The Sakarya First Division Group B club used Bitcoing to sign Omer Faruk Kiroglu for 0.0524 BTC (£386), plus 2,500 Turkish Lira (£467).
The entire deal is worth around £850 and is the first of its kind with club president Haldun Sehit happy to make history.
Speaking to NTV Spor, Sehit said:”We did this to make a name for ourselves in the country and the world.
“This is a first for Turkey and the world in the transfer market.
“Our name is being mentioned on television as if we are a professional club. We are proud of this.”
Kiroglu said: “This is a first for me and for the world. As my chairman said, we are doing something new.
“I am open to new things. I hope this deal works well for both sides.”
Arsenal became the first club to have a an official cryptocurrency partner.
The club has reached an agreement with the gaming company CashBet, which is planning to launch its own currency CashBet Coin.
