What did Kylian Mbappe say to the camera after VAR red card during Rennes v PSG?

Kylian Mbappe didn't hold back after being sent off for a pretty horrific foul

When football is a four-day long event in which VAR is used on every single decision we’re going to look back on the good ol’ days with misty-eyed nostalgia.

But VAR does have it’s benefits- namely ensuring you can’t get away with raking someone’s calf, as Kylian Mbappe did during PSG’s French League Cup clash with Rennes.

Mbappe initially looked like he’d got away with the calf-shredding tackle before rightly being dismissed on review.

With limited fuss the correct decision was made. Take note England.

Mbappe didn’t go quietly though.

In fact he seemed pretty furious that he’d received a red card, despite the fact most of his opponent’s sock was still entangled in his studs.

But what did Mbappe say to the cameras?

He fumed: “Hey, hey, listen closely. I had the same thing happen to me last week and nothing.”

Mbappe was injured in PSG’s loss to Lyon last month after colliding with the goalkeeper and didn’t play against Guingamp or Montpellier.

In hindsight Mbappe admitted he deserved the first red card of his career, saying: “It’s red. Today, I didn’t do my job. I didn’t play”

Luckily Neymar was on hand to take the heat off Mbappe with some showboating at the end of the game.

That’s what team-mates are for.
