Just six months after loaning out their star striker Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco have already found the next big wonderkid to replace him.

According to reports in Italy, the Ligue 1 giants are close to snapping up 16-year-old Pietro Pellegri from Genoa for around £22 million.

The teenager, who’s also been a target for Manchester United and Juventus in recent months, has already scored three goals in 8 appearances for the Serie A side.

He made his first-team debut for Genoa last year at the tender age of 15 years and 280 days – making him the joint-youngest Serie A debutant. He was also the first player born in the 21st century to appear in Serie A.

According to Football Italia, Pellegri was in serious talks with Juventus – who often end up signing the best prospects in Italy, including the likes of Mattia Caldara and Riccardo Orsolini – before Monaco stepped up their pursuit.

And it looks like he’ll complete his move to the French champions very soon.
