What does every fan want to hear when a new player joins their club?
That it has been a dream to play for club in question his whole life and he wanted nothing else of course.
And Henrikh Mkhitaryan is nothing else if not a crowd pleaser.
The Armenia midfielder made the switch to Arsenal with Alexis Sanchez going in the other direction and the debate over who got the better end of the deal will rage on for a while.
But it was what he said during his announcement that pricked our ears.
“It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal,” Mkhitaryan said even though he went straight to Man United when the opportunity to move to England came along.
Even more suspicious is the fact that this sounds very similar to what the 29-year-old said when he joined United and Borussia Dortmund before that.
Rewind to 2016 and Mkhitaryan sent out a tweet on the news he was joining the Red Devils.
“This move is a dream come true for me,” the tweet read – sound familiar?
It’s nice that Mkhitaryan has now achieved two of his childhood dreams.
But can you guess what he said in 2013 when he moved to Dortmund?
Yep, you guessed it, the leaving Shakhtar Donetsk for BVB was a ‘dream come true’ for Mkhi.
Arsenal fans should be pleased that they could come through the January transfer window in a stronger position than they started it.
They’ve lost a player who didn’t want it to be at the club in Sanchez but have secured Mkhitaryan as his replacement and could end the window with the signing of Mkhi’s former Borussia Dortmund team mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
We wonder if Aubameyang will also call it a dream move if he goes to the Emirates?
