Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud reportedly holds the key to their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gunners are locked in negotiations as they try to land the Borussia Dortmund forward before next week’s transfer deadline.
But the German giants will not sanction the move unless Giroud heads the other way, according to the Mirror.
Arsenal face forking out £53million fee for Aubameyang, 28, who is keen to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
Dortmund are determined to sign a replacement before the pacey hitman leaves – and Bild are reporting they are holding out for £62m.
They have come in for Giroud before and could offer the France international, 31, more game time before the World Cup.
Despite being his country’s main man, the ex-Marseille striker is behind fellow Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette in the Emirates pecking order.
Arsenal have already completed one sensational swap deal this window with Alexis Sanchez being replaced by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
And Arsene Wenger will be desperate to get this move over the line to add another dimension to his team.
Aubameyang has fired in 13 goals in 15 league games this season but disciplinary problems have seen him fall out with the Dortmund hierarchy.
And he would inject the pace and goal threat Arsenal lost when Sanchez joined rivals United.
