Another day, another weird Chelsea transfer rumour.
So far this month, the Blues have been linked with the likes of Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Christian Benteke, Edin Dzeko and even Ashley Barnes, but have been unable to land any of them so far.
It’s all been quite funny, really.
And now Antonio Conte’s side are linked with another shock name – West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic.
Arnautovic, who only joined West Ham in the summer from Stoke for around £25 million, has been flying lately – notching six goals and three assists in his last eight Premier League games.
The Austrian has been switched to a more central attacking role in the side by David Moyes, which has seemingly brought out the best in his abilities.
And it looks like his rise in form has peaked Chelsea’s interest.
According to ESPN FC, Conte wants to ease the burden on main striker Alvaro Morata, who’s endured a bit of a slump in form in front of goal lately.
And that’s why the club has been linked with every ‘target man’ under the sun.
Back-up forward Michy Batshuayi is also out of favour at the club, and he’ll likely be loaned out this month if a new player arrives.
However, we reckon it’s pretty unlikely that West Ham would sell Arnoutovic just six months after breaking their club transfer-record to bring him in.
He’s been their main goal-scoring threat lately, so it would certainly take a huge offer from the Blues.
