Schalke fans held up brutal banners for Leon Goretzka after he signed for Bayern Munich

The news broke that the 22-year-old would be joining the reigning champs in the summer and Schalke fans are absolutely furious.

It must be horrible being a German team that is not Bayern Munich.

No matter how promising the team you are putting together is, Bayern always come in and take your best players.

Not only does it make the most dominant team in the league even stronger but it dents the smaller side’s hopes of ever beating FC Hollywood.

Well on the weekend it was announced that FC Schalke will be joining the long list of teams that were helpless to let their star player move to the Allianz Arena.

Leon Goretzka will be joining Jupp Heynckes’ side for free in the summer but will remain at Schalke until then.

And after the fans demonstration yesterday it looks like it could be an awkward few months for the talented youngster.

Fans inside the Veltins Arena held up a banner for the game against Hannover that told him in no uncertain terms what they made of his decision to leave Gelsenkirchen.

“Neither money nor trophies are worth more than our club, the only who does not appreciate that can f*** off immediately,” read the banner.

They were not happy at all.

The fans see it as a betrayal after Schalke’s manager told the press that the player had already agreed to extend his stay at the club last year.

Goretzka joins the likes of Mats Hummels, Joshua Kimmich, Jan Kirchoff and of course Robert Lewandowski as players Munich have poached off their near rivals in recent years.

There is a problem in the Bundesliga with Bayern hoovering up all the talent, in that it obliterates any possibility of competition.

Bayern have built up such a lead at the top of the league that Schalke in second are closer to the relegation zone than first place.

Just give them the title now lads.
