We’re already massive fans of Yerry Mina.
From the second he took to the Nou Camp turf barefoot to be unveiled as a Barcelona player we knew he’d be a bit of a cult hero.
But the moment we’re really looking forward to is when he first lines up alongside Thomas Vermaelen at the heart of Barcelona’s defence.
It will complete a fantastic journey for the 23-year-old Colombian and his parents. Allow us to explain.
Mina’s mum and dad named the former Palmeiras man after the cartoon Tom and Jerry.
Mina’s dad told Mundo Deportivo: “It was his mum who chose the name.
“We liked Tom and Jerry’s drawings a lot and that’s where we chose the name from, although we put it with a Y.”
So when Yerry partners Vermaelen it’ll be Tom and Jerry at the back for Barcelona.
Well, Thomas and Yerry, but you know what we mean.
Even if Yerry steps out with Gerard Pique or Samuel Umtiti he’ll make history in a Barcelona shirt.
Yerry will be the first ever Colombian to play and official game for Barcelona.
Lauro Gonzalo Mosquera pulled on a Barcelona shirt in 1964 but never actually made an official appearance for the club.
Just one more reason to love Yerry Mina.
