One of the most exciting youngsters in football is all set to make his first-team debut this evening.
England Under-19 starlet Jadon Sancho is in the starting line-up for Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Wolfsburg – getting the nod ahead of esteemed teammate Andre Schurlle.
The 17-year-old – who impressed in a mid-season friendly win over Fortuna Dusseldorf last week – has made just two brief substitute appearances for the first team so far, having joined the German giants from Manchester City back in August.
Reports in Germany claim Sancho could even play a prominent role in the second half of Dortmund’s season, as they look to cement a place in the top four of the Bundesliga.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, manager Peter Stoger said: “Jadon took part in a proper training camp, it was a good step for him.
“He has real quality, even though he isn’t quite the finished article in front of goal.”
A large portion of BVB’s attacking talent to a bit of a hit over the festive period, with Christian Pulisic, Mario Gotze, Marco Reus and Gonzalo Castro all absent in last week’s friendly.
So, will Sancho be able to impress over the next few months and maybe squeeze his way into England’s World Cup squad this summer?
