Arsenal fans insult themselves and Chelsea supporters with superb chant at Stamford Bridge

Gunners fans were heard to chant 'Is this the Emirates' during the stale 0-0 in west London on Wednesday night

Arsenal fans get a lot of stick online and there’s often a good reason.

However, credit where credit is due, they played an absolute blinder at Stamford Bridge last night.

And not just because they waved banknotes at the Chelsea fans

And not just because they waved banknotes at the Chelsea fans

With Chelsea and the Gunners playing out something of a stale 0-0 draw in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, those in attendance were left to make their own entertainment.

And with only a subdued atmosphere to work with, the travelling fans produced a wonderfully self-deprecating chant.

Arsenal fans were heard mocking their rivals’ lack of enthusiasm with as a chorus of ‘Is this the Emirates?’ rang out around the ground.

A chant that simultaneously insults both sets of fans is absolute gold dust.

Clearly those Arsenal fans who travel to see their side on the road are not best pleased with the atmosphere during home games.

Full marks for being able to laugh at themselves — a refreshing change of pace in a community often polluted with childish arguments fuelled by blind bias.

All we need now is Chelsea fans to chant ‘Is this Stamford Bridge’ during the second leg and the Emirates for maximum levels of typical British banter.

Well played, lads.
