What do you make of this then?
By the sounds of it Arsenal could lose Alexis Sanchez to Man City before the week is out.
Especially when you hear Kevin De Bruyne saying things like it’s a matter of when and not if.
Although it may seem like the world is ending for Arsenal fans, this year it looks like Arsene Wenger might actually have lined up a decent replacement for the Gunners losing won of their stars.
And to make it all the sweeter, as reported by The Times, Arsenal’s gain would be Spurs’ loss.
The paper claims that Arsenal are in pole position to sign Bordeaux’s 20-year-old Brazilian winger Malcom for an expected £45million fee.
The club has apparently sent representatives to meet with Malcom’s agent today in a bid to get the deal over the line.
If the Brazilian makes the move across the channel it could pave the way for Sanchez’ departure.
Spurs have also been monitoring the winger this season and it’s no surprise as he is setting Ligue 1 alight with seven goals and four assists in 18 appearances this term.
Another critical pointer that alerted the north London clubs is that Malcolm has apparently been learning English, suggesting he might favour a move to the Premier League.
This has been Malcom’s breakthrough season at Bordeaux after the club moved their formation to fully accommodate the Brazilian.
Malcom is hardly player Arsenal fans will want to see as a replacement for Sanchez leaving the club, but at least it shows Wenger is planning for the worst-case scenario.
Arsene obviously doesn’t believe his days are numbered with a move like this.
Good on you AW.
