With Sanchez believed to be edging closer to a transfer to Man City, the Gunners are moving quickly

Arsenal are set to land Argentine starlet Cristian Pavon as Alexis Sanchez’s replacement.

Reports in Argentina claim Arsene Wenger is prepared to meet Pavon’s £27million release clause at Boca Juniors to bring him to London.

The 21-year-old has made two appearances for Argentina, and would take up the same attacking position currently held by Sanchez.

Manchester City are poised to firm up an offer for Sanchez – believed to be around £25m, with the Chilean no closer to agreeing a new deal and out of contract in the summer.

That would pave the way to offer first-team football to 21-year-old Pavon, who is expected to be a part of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup this summer in Russia.

Arsene Wenger is under pressure with some big name players set to exit

Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Debuchy are also set to be shown the exit door at the Emirates, although their likely destination is less clear.

And with the future’s of Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere still up in the air, there is a wind of change sweeping through the North London club.

SunSport reported back in December how it will be the biggest shake-up of boss Arsene Wenger’s 21-year reign at the London club.

Per Mertesacker is set to retire at the end of the season, and Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott could also push for moves after becoming frustrated at failing to nail down regular starting spots.

Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck, while both having two years still to run on their respective deals, could well be flogged rather than allow their contracts to run down.

There are also growing doubts as to whether Santi Cazorla will ever play again following his latest Achilles injury.
