Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.

Philippe Coutinho reportedly paid £11.5million of his own money to ensure his move to Barcelona went ahead with no hitches.

In addition to this, they claim the Nike saga also had a part to play in the increased transfer fee, and sources say Coutinho was ‘personally prepared to intervene’ to help the transfer go through without any late issues.

Coutinho has paid £9million upfront with £2.5million coming in instalments at a later date, Paul Joyce adds.

The 25-year-old’s transfer is now the third biggest in history, and the Spanish club will parade their new signing on Monday.
