Philippe Coutinho is 99% a Barcelona player, pending the formalities of a medical which should be finalised today.
But it can be revealed that the Brazilian already had a house out in Spain bought for him by former Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez.
Coutinho, in an interview with the Daily Mail, said Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu asked Suarez which hotel he should put the midfielder up in upon his arrival.
But the Uruguay striker said: “No, presidente, there is no need for a hotel. I already have a house for him . . .”
Coutinho will join Suarez and Lionel Messi in the luxury suburb of Castelldefels – a moment’s walk from the beach and 49-minute drive to the Nou Camp.
Suarez splashed out £2.6m on his own property in the neighbourhood in December 2014 just months after joining the club from Anfield.
Coutinho, who is moving to Spain with his wife Aine and children Maria and Philippe Jr, said: “He saw that a house next to his became available.
“He didn’t know I was coming for certain but he liked the idea. It’s a kind gesture.
“We’ve seen the pictures, the views look amazing.
“We are in touch all the time and I look forward to seeing the property with my family.
“I know Luis will help us to feel at home.”
That leaves Coutinho on the left of Suarez in the neighbourhood and Messi on the right – perhaps a metaphor for how Barcelona’s formidable attack will line up this season.
