Hakan Calhanoglu’s right foot is a thing of beauty.
He showed exactly what it can do with an exquisite pass during AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Crotone yesterday.
Seriously, this is one of the best passes we have ever seen.
The Turkish playmaker channelled his inner Xavi as he received the ball in his own half and drove a low diagonal ball to pick out Suso bursting into the box.
The ball was so perfectly delivered that the Crotone defender would have been able to smell the leather as it whizzed past his head on its way to the desired recipient.
Calhanoglu, who has a reputation as a free kick master, demomnstrated a glorious mix of technique, precision and vision to see the pass and then execute it immaculately.
In an otherwise very disappointing season for Milan, Calhanoglu’s moment of magic was a welcome reprieve.
Having spent a shed load in the summer on the likes of Calhanoglu and Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus, the Rossoneri are 11th in Serie A, 23 points behind leaders Napoli.
Their chances of making a Champions League spot at the end of the season have gone out of the window too as they are 14 points behind rivals Inter in third.
Club legend Gennaro Gattuso was appointed to steady the ship after Vincenzo Montella was sacked, but his first game in charge saw Milan concede a 95th-minute goal from Benevento’s goalkeeper to give the bottom placed side their first point of the season.
More of this please Hakan.
