Jean-Marc Bosman was forced to sell his second home and Porsche Carrera after selling just one t-shirt, to the son of his lawyer, celebrating the Bosman ruling.
But without him Emre Can wouldn’t be making his free transfer from Liverpool to Juventus in the summer.
The German midfielder is reportedly all set to move to Turin, where he would become one of the club’s highest earners.
In fact only Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala will earn more than Can, according to Calciomercato.
Can will reportedly take home €5million every year on a deal that will last until 2022.
The 23-year-old will earn more than club legends Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini.
Time to get on the phone to your agents.
He’ll also earn more than international team-mates Sami Khedira and Benedikt Howedes, who were vital in persuading the midfielder to move to Serie A.
But the deal makes perfect sense from Juventus’ perspective.
The £5mil Juve will pay Can over five years works out at £25m, less than his market valuation if Liverpool were to sell the midfielder.
Now there’s just the small issue of following in the footsteps of Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo and the rest of Juventus’ sublime free transfers.
