You would expect it from the visiting fans.
But not from the Old Trafford faithful.
The Man United fans turned on one of their own during the game against Southampton.
After a pretty abject display from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, he then suffered the indignity of being jeered by his own fans when he was substituted.
The Armernian was deployed on the left wing for the Red Devils but he demonstrated that he basically only has one fight.
And it’s not his left one.
Time and time again Mkhitaryan was in acres of space in the attacking third but when he was show down the line onto his left foot he delivered a series of crosses that weren’t League Two standard.
Sorry League Two fans.
It was easy for Saints right back Jack Stephens as all he had to do was make sure Mkhiki didn’t cut in onto his right foot.
The first half produced glaring evidence that the Man United winger is pretty much unable to use his left foot.
- James Milner’s backheel assist is the most surprising thing we’ve seen this season
- Horrible scenes as Romelu Lukaku suffers nasty head
- This stat proves Pep Guardiola was right to call Spurs the ‘Harry Kane team’
Whether it was way over everyone’s heads and over to the other side, behind all the attackers or over the bar Mkhitaryan tried it all.
On one occasion he did actually find Jesse Lingard who very nearly scored – but this was with his right foot.
According to a journalist at the ground there were sarcastic cheers aimed in his direction after Jose Mourinho hooked him in the second half.
Jose didn’t even acknowledge Mkhitaryan as he left the field.
We fear this could spell the end of the former Borussia Dortmund man’s United career.
We’ll be sad to see you go Henrikh.
