MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly opened talks with Bordeaux over a £33million deal for Brazilian wonderkid Malcom.
Boss Jose Mourinho has been desperate to add some attacking width, with the left-footed star a prime candidate.
And the Daily Mail are reporting that talks over United buying Malcolm in January and then loaning him back to the French club.
Bordeaux are said to be holding out for £50million for their star player but United believe they can get the price down.
United are set to be handed a whopping £80m kitty next month in order to make a second-half of the season push.
Now Malcom, 20, appears to be the No1 target – with his attacking versatility crucial.
So far this season, Mourinho has been forced to play Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on the left – both of whom prefer to play centrally.
Meanwhile, another right-footer, Ashley Young, has been deployed at left-back.
Malcom’s genuine ability to play out wide is a major selling-point, with the Bordeaux star set to be the subject of more interest from United.
There is also reportedly a gentleman’s agreement that Malcom can leave in the summer and there is not a release clause.
