7 Liverpool players Mohamed Salah has ALREADY outscored

The Egyptian has started his Reds career like a house on fire and has already bagged more goals for the club than some famous faces

We just can’t get enough of Mohamed Salah.

Those who felt the Liverpool record signing would struggle to make an impression after his ineffective spell at Chelsea certainly aren’t as vocal now.

Yep, definitely won’t cut it back in England

And after his 20th goal of the season at Bournemouth on Sunday Salah racked up a couple of Reds’ records in the process.

The Premier League’s leading goalscorer is the first player to reach the 20-goal mark for Liverpool by Christmas since Robbie Fowler and the quickest to reach that tally since Daniel Sturridge.

And we’ve noticed Salah’s electric start to life at Anfield has already taken him past some pretty recognisable names in the club’s rich history.

So here’s seven players the wicked Egyptian has already overtaken in terms of goals… in the space of just four months.

1 Xabi Alonso (19 goals)

Alonso was known for his passing rather than goalscoring

Mr Cool, Alonso is arguably the best passer the club has ever seen.

The Spaniard won the Champions League with the Reds, scoring in that famous defeat of AC Milan, and then lifted the FA Cup a season later.

But Salah has already outscored the midfield maestro.

2 Vladimir Smicer (19 goals)

Smicer scored in the 2005 final

Another cult hero to score in that famous Istanbul win, Smicer was quiet but effective during his six years on Merseyside.

Smicer made a knack of coming off the wing and popping up in important positions.

Just not quite as frequently as Salah, obviously.

3 David N’Gog (19 goals)

N’Gog was a strange signing by Rafa Benitez

N’Gog was more a figure of ridicule during his few seasons at Anfield, but will always have a place in Kopites’ hearts after his goal against Manchester United in the 2009/10 season.

Supposedly went AWOL during his time at Bolton and was last seen playing for Panionios in Greece.

4 Craig Bellamy (18 goals)

Bellamy was a popular figure

Bellamy had two spells at Liverpool and was far more effective in the second one.

The fiery Welsh forward was the Reds’ best player in the 2011/12 season on their way to winning the League Cup.

Will be remembered for reportedly smacking John Arne Riise with a golf club before celebrating a goal against Barcelona with a fitting celebration.

5 Martin Skrtel (18 goals)

Skrtel was always a goal threat at Anfield

Skrtel may have been a centre-back but Liverpool fans will remember him for his goalscoring prowess from set pieces.

In the 2013/14 season the big Slovakian scored seven times as they came oh so close to a first Premier League title.

Unfortunately he also managed seven own goals during his time at Anfield.

6 Paul Ince (17 goals)

Ince captained Liverpool in the late 90s

Ince was the last player to play for both Liverpool and Manchester United and was a real stalwart under Gerard Houllier.

17 goals in 81 appearances is a pretty decent return for a combative midfielder.

7 Maxi Rodriguez (17 goals)

“Run down the wing for me”

Another hugely popular figure on Merseyside, Rodriguez ran down the wing obediently for Liverpool for three seasons at the turn of the decade.

Seven of his 17 goals came within the space of a week in 2010/11 – including hat-tricks against Birmingham and Fulham.
