Sometimes FIFA can be the most unfair game in the world.
You dominate your opponent for the whole game, peppering their goal with shots and owning possession of the ball.
Then you find yourself three goals down and wonder where exactly it all went wrong.

Well, that has just happened to AC Milan in one of the unluckiest 3-0 losses you will ever see.
If you looked at the stats of the game without knowing the score you would be forgiven for expecting a Milan romp and several goals for Gennaro Gattuso’s side.
But that is not how it panned out against Verona.
Milan had 67% of possession against the team currently 17th in Serie A.
The Rossoneri also rained down 28 shots on their opponents goal.
Despite their best efforts they found no way past a Verona defence which has already shipped 32 goals in 17 games this season.
In fact, as the clock struck the 77th minute, Milan were facing down the barrel of a 3-0 defeat.

With just 33% of the ball and only four shots on goal, Verona managed to come away with three successful strikes and put the gloss on a result which they will surely know they didn’t deserve.
Milan also had 10 corner kicks to Verona’s three, demonstrating the pressure they were applying throughout the game.
This looks like the kind of performance from Verona that would make Jose Mourinho the happiest man in the world.
