PAUL POGBA came close to joining Real Madrid but says his “heart” told him to re-join Manchester United.
The France midfielder was coveted by Zinedine Zidane for years in his various roles on Real’s staff.
But when it came to making a decision in the summer of 2016, Pogba opted for a move back to the club he walked away from for free four years earlier.
The former Juventus star, 24, told Beyond the Pitch: “To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there.
“And I was thinking to go to Manchester United too.
“But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here.

“I don’t know why, I didn’t know what was going to happen.
“But I did it, and I don’t regret. I never regret my choice.”
Pogba completed an £89million move to Old Trafford that saw Mino Raiola, his agent, trouser a staggering £20m extra.
He went on to play 51 times last season and lifted the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League trophies.
Pogba is currently suspended for his red card in the 3-1 win at Arsenal and will miss Wednesday’s home clash with Bournemouth and Sunday’s trip to West Brom.
He could return from his three-game ban for the EFL Cup quarter-final away at Bristol City on Wednesday December 20.
