Man United planning to swoop Chelsea for £60million Brazilian left-back in January

Juventus defender keen on move to England and Jose Mourinho is a willing buyer as he looks to strengthen squad at Old Trafford

Forget Danny Rose, Man United have their eyes on a bigger prize.

Jose Mourinho has made Alex Sandro one of his top transfer targets after the defender told Juventus he wants to move to England.

The Portuguese gaffer is keen to bring in a top class left-back after identifying the area as a weakness in his squad, despite Luke Shaw’s impressive showing in the Champions League.

Manchester United have switched their attention to Juventus defender Alex Sandro

Coming to a Manchester Wetherspoons near you…

And there are now claims he is ready to switch his attention from Spurs left-back Danny Rose, who denied any ill-feelings between him and Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week.

The Daily Record say United have now made 26-year-old Sandro their main transfer target and could even make a move for him in the January transfer window.

The report suggests Mourinho has been told he has up to £80million to spend next month if he wants to add to his options within his squad.

But he would have to spend £60m of that if he wants to follow through on his interest in Sandro with Juve only prepared to do business if a significant offer came in.

United have been chasing Tottenham defender Danny Rose for the past year

United’s interest in Rose has cooled

Sandro is understood to have made it clear to the Serie A club that he wants to move to England, aware of interest from United and Chelsea.

The defending Premier League champions tried to put together a deal last summer to take Sandro to Stamford Bridge but were unable to reach an agreement with Juventus.

Ashley Young has been filling in at left-back and has done a superb job given he has spent the majority of his career as a midfielder.

However, if United to compete with league leaders Man City they will require specialists in every position.
