Ballon d’OR: Cristiano Ronaldo wins FIFTH award of career to pull level with Lionel Messi

The Real Madrid star won FOUR trophies this season, including a defence of the Champions League in May

Cristiano Ronaldo has won his fifth Ballon d’Or award, pulling level with Lionel Messi in the process.

The Real Madrid star was unanimously voted the world’s best player after winning four trophies in 2017.

Ronaldo has scored 49 goals in 56 appearances so far this calendar year and became the first person in history to score in all six group games of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo beat Messi and Neymar into second and third place, parading the award at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
