We’ve been spoilt so far this season by a number of breathtaking performances.
But some players have consistently been a cut above the rest in the Premier League.
The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Raheem Sterling are probably the early front runners for the PFA Player of the Year award.
But which stars, according to our stats boffins WhoScored, have won the most Man of the Match awards?
Well a whopping 22 players have so far been named Man of the Match twice in the Premier League, so here’s the top seven…
1= Eden Hazard: 5 Man of the Match awards
Hazard has been back to his special best in recent weeks, picking up three Man of the Match awards in his last four league games.
The tricky Belgian has terrorised defences, producing five goals and two assists from his eight league starts.
1= Harry Kane: 5
Again, irresistibly this season.
Remember when Kane was supposedly meant to tail off as another one-season wonder? Well three campaigns later he’s looking to win the Premier League Golden Boot for the third year in a row.
3= Kevin De Bruyne: 4
De Bruyne has become the complete footballer under Pep Guardiola and makes the best team in Europe this season tick.
Manchester City are on course for the quadruple this season and with De Bruyne at the heart of everything, they might be unstoppable.
No player has created more goals than the Belgian’s eight so far this season.
3= Richarlison: 4
The surprise package of the season, Richarlison has lit up the Premier League in his first few months in Europe by scoring five goals and assisting a further three.
Watford pulled off a real coup by signing the Brazilian given the calibre of other clubs interested, but how long can they hold onto him for?
5= Mohamed Salah: 3
Remember the weak, wasteful player at Chelsea? Well that version of Salah has long been forgotten.
The Egyptian winger’s scoring record has been absolutely phenomenal, bagging 12 and leading some of the finest strikers in the world in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
One quarter of the ‘Fab Four’ at Liverpool capable of destroying any defence on their day, Salah has also just leapfrogged Harry Kane as Dream Team’s top points scorer this season.
5= Anthony Knockaert: 3
The joker in the pack, but Knockaert has quietly been Brighton’s most influential player this season alongside Pascal Gross.
Despite producing only one goal and one assist, the Frenchman has been the inspiration behind the Seagulls impressive start to their first Premier League campaign.
5= Nicolas Otamendi: 3
Vastly improved this season under Pep Guardiola, Otamendi is a WhoScored algorithm favourite and a regular Star Man machine on Dream Team.
Otamendi’s development has made Vincent Kompany’s ongoing injury hell a mere inconvenience for Manchester City this season, while three goals means he’s a threat at set pieces too.
TIP OF THE WEEKEND:
Sun Bets, as always, are graciously rewarding any new customer to who stakes £5 with a £20 bet. Just like that.
So what’s the best way to spend that £20?
Newcastle are in disarray at the moment and if you believe everything you hear – particularly after Mike Ashley rejected a takeover bid this week – Rafa Benitez might not be around for much longer.
The Magpies haven’t won since mid-October and sit just five points above the Premier League drop zone.
Sun Bets are currently offering 4/1 for the Geordies to go down this season – a high price for a club only going in one direction.
