WHERE'S LIAM'S INVITE?

Noel Gallagher will be a special studio guest on Sky Sports this Super Sunday

The Oasis songwriter will join Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher in the studio for the Merseyside and Manchester derbies

We’ve all been fooled by the phrase ‘Super Sunday’ before.

Sky Sports are experts when it comes to hyperbole and it’s genuinely impressive how enthusiastic they are about even the least appealing fixtures of the season.

Now and then the ‘Super Sunday’ moniker feels more ironic than anything but this week we have a proper belter.

Is his punditry as good as his songwriting?

Is his punditry as good as his songwriting?

For the first time in Premier League history, Sky Sports are set to broadcast the Merseyside derby and the Manchester derby back to back.

And not only that, they’ve invited Noel Gallagher along as a special studio guest.

The famously foul-mouthed songwriter will join Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher to give his views on the most significant match of the season as his beloved Man City take on local rivals Man United.

Only a fool would expect Gallagher to remain even remotely biased and there may be some sparks between the Oasis man and Neville.

The former Man United full-back is a huge fan of Gallagher’s music and was inspired to learn guitar because of his influence.

Neville once sent a guitar for Gallagher to sign and received it back with the following message scrawled on it: “Dear Gary, how many caps have you got for England!! How many do you think you deserved??

“I’ll tell you, fuckin’ none! Lots of love, Noel Gallagher! M.C.F.C.”

The pair’s faux rivalry is bound to be on show this Sunday with Gallagher never having been one to mince his words.

Aside from a pair of mouth-watering fixtures, Super Sunday will also feature an interview between Neville and Pep Guardiola, as well as Thierry Henry hosting David de Gea in the Match Zone.

Bascially, if you haven’t got out of your other plans yet, now’s the time.

And has anybody thought of inviting Liam along to join his brother?
