Alessandro Del Piero has spoken openly about the rumours linking Liverpool’s Emre Can with Juventus.
And when Del Piero speaks, we listen.
Can you blame us?
The Juve legend has described Can an the perfect midfield addition for the Serie A giants, as they look to win their seventh consecutive Scudetto this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, he said: “Massimiliano Allegri’s side needs another midfielder because Sami Khedira is known to pick up minor knocks.
“Claudio Marchisio is coming back from injury, but he’s still not at his best and Miralem Pjanic is not such a physical player.”
“Emre Can of Liverpool would be ideal, and he’s not even that expensive.
“He could be the big name for Juve in January – they need somebody like him.
“He’s physically present and somebody like Can would fit in very well with Pjanic and Khedira.”
Well, he’s certainly not wrong.
Can has been heavily, heavily, linked with Juventus for the last few months, with the Germany international in the final year of his Liverpool contract.
But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep him around and is hopeful he’ll sign a new contract soon.
But what does Can think about all the recent rumours?
In a recent press conference, he simply said: “Why do you ask me this?
“Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.
“It is not about money, that’s all I can say.
“Yes I could [sign a pre-contract with another club next month], but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool.
We’ll see indeed.
