If Matic loses his fitness race, Ander Herrera is expected to step in after starting the last three games on the bench.
The United boss has confirmed defensive pair Eric Bailly and Phil Jones miss out through injury.
Meanwhile contract rebel Marouane Fellaini is still not available, the midfielder who missed the midweek win at Vicarage Road has failed to recover from a knee injury.
