You can’t keep a good man down for long.
Everyone’s favourite football manager, aside from Newcastle and Crystal Palace fans, is back in the Premier League.
Yes, that’s right, Alan Pardew is a top flight manager again after being appointed West Brom boss.
Pardew is back in football having left Crystal Palace in Decemeber 2016, when Steve Parish admitted his ‘expansive style of football’ just hadn’t worked.
That will be music to the ears of West Brom fans who’ve had to watch their side play a five-man defence shielded by three sitting midfielders under Tony Pulis.
In case you were wondering, Pardiola’s first meeting with Guardiola, in what is guaranteed to be a festival of football, is scheduled for 31 January 2018.
For those of you who have forgotten what made Pardew such a colourful character, allow us to refresh your memories.
This is the man who, while managing an actual football team, headbutted Hull’s David Meyler.
This is also the man who danced when his Crystal Palace team equalised in the FA Cup final, only for Man United to go on and win the game in extra time.
Of course there have been less savoury moments, like the time he called Manuel Pellegrini a ‘f****** old c***’ despite there only being an eight-year gap between the pair.
But it’s good to have Pards back. It feels like the world needs a little boost.
First the royal wedding, now this. What a time to be alive.
