Borussia Dortmund have brought this on themselves.
Not only did they throw away a 4-0 half time lead in a derby match against Ruhr Valley rivals FC Schalke, they also gloated about said lead at half time.
Without doubt the craziest game of the season so far saw Dortmund storm to a four-goal lead on the 25th minute, only to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory by conceding four goals in the last half an hour.
It is the first time a team has come from four goals down in Europe’s top-five leagues since Cheick Tiote’s wonder strike did it for Newcastle against Arsenal in 2011.
To make it all the sweeter for Schalke, when they were facing a few weeks of embarrassment for being demolished by their neighbours, Dortmund sent the below tweet at half time.
To be fair Schalke gave as good as they got and took their chance for revenge after Naldo’s 94th-minute leveller.
Reap what you sow, Dortmund.
Naldo + dab = pure banter.
To be honest the Bundesliga clubs’ Twitter game has been lit this season.
Schalke tipped a whole cup of salt in Dortmund’s gaping wounds when this item appeared on their club shop website.
Now, the next time clubs face each other Dortmund fans will have to suffer the ignominy of seeing their rivals dressed to remind them of this game.
That’s what you get for boasting.
