Lionel Messi has signed a new contract at Barcelona – and this time, it’s official.
After months of contratdictory reports from senior figures at the Spanish club, the Argentinian superstar has finally put pen to paper on the new deal.
Messi’s new contract will keep him at the club until 2021, but it is buyout clause that will turn a few heads.
If any club wants to prise Messi away from the Nou Camp, it will cost a whopping £626million.
That’s over three Neymars in today’s money.
The 30-year-old has been at the club for 17 years, and has won eight La Liga titles and won the Champions League four times.
Messi picked up the award for the European Golden Shoe last night after scoring 37 times in the Spanish top tier last season.
The award has now been won by the Argentine legend four times, putting him level with long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
