Chapecoense players have endured a travesty no one should have to bear.
In November 2016, the plane carrying the squad and staff members crashed as it approached Medellin, Colombia killing 71 people.
It was an earth-shattering event and the football family has united behind the Brazilian club.
All-round legend Gianlugi Buffon has just made a really heart-warming gesture to Chapecoense’s goalkeeper Jakson Follman who survived the crash.
The Italy and Juventus no.1 has given the Brazilian player a signed shirt and his reaction made us well up a bit.
The 25-year-old ‘keeper has yet to make an appearance for Chape but Buffon has been an inspiration for him since he was young.
The Instagram message reads: “I’ve always been inspired by this great goalkeeper. Receiving this @gianluigibuffon gift is an honor. What happiness.”
Even after nearly 500 appearances for Juventus and a World Cup with Italy, Buffon still has time to be a gentleman of the game.
The veteran goalkeeper recently announced his retirement from international football after missing out on the World Cup 2018 after losing to Sweden in a play-off.
Respect to you Gigi.
